Walk One: Llyn Crafnant

My first walk for this week and my first walk of this blog, is in Trefriw, at Llyn Crafnant. I wouldn't describe it as a strenuous walk at all, in fact it is a fairly easy walk and one of my favourite places to visit. Whether it is a warm day in the summer or a cold day in the winter, Llyn Crafnant never fails to make a nice and enjoyable afternoon out for all the family. Given that it is July and it hasn't really been dry these last couple of weeks, I wouldn't be surprised, given previous experience, if some areas of the route around Llyn Crafnant have got quite wet and muddy, but this is expected. I would recommend that you take some wellies if you are to go to Crafnant, they are not a necessity as most of the route is gravel and stones but they would certainly be useful for the short part of the walk where it starts to get muddy, or alternatively you can forget about the wellies and get your shoes muddy, after all, it is all part of the adventure and experience. There is space for a picnic when the lake is low, with deviations off the path to these areas. There is also a photo opportunity. Just away from the car park, there is a bridge crossing over to the path around the lake, however if you walk on the gravel closer to the lake then there is a wide open area for you to get many photos of the lake and the surrounding area. I have taken a picture from there myself, which you can see on the left. Llyn Crafnant makes for a great family day out and not only that, it is also located next to the Gwydyr forest park, which I will be reviewing next Sunday. You can see the location of Llyn Crafnant on my website under Weekly Walks on http://www.go-llandudno.co.uk/
